Chevrolet Repair: Chevy pickup radio/antenna, chevy silverado, antenna cable

I have a '99 Chevy Silverado Z71 that I have tried several radios in, all with very poor reception. I put one in from my '96 that work great, but not in the '99. I guess I'm looking at the antenna cable being bad? Have you experienced this and would you replace the antenna/cable and if so how do you snake the new cable into place? Thanks for your help!

well once the antenna is disconnected connect the old cable to the nes cable somehow, and pull it thorugh. hopefully that works or if your unsure of it wrap a thin but strong wire or cord to the end and pull it through, then attach the new cable and pull it through. hope it helps.
