Chevrolet Repair: 1998 Astro Van, egnition, repair history

We just left the house and about a block down the road the engine just quit running..It turns over just fine..But won't start..Is there something in the egnition that can cause that? No warning, no coughing, just quit cold turkey....
1998 Astro Van. No repair history..50,000 miles..

Hi Gerald, The most common thing to go bad is the fuel pump. I have seen the coil wire also go bad and not allow the spark to get to the dist. To test this you can spray carb cleaner into the rubber tube that goes from the air filter to the engine. Have someone cranking the engine while you do this and if it tries to start then it is the fuel pump.
