Chevrolet Repair: Chevy S-10 pickup electrical, dashboard lights, mounting bolt

Question
I have an 87 Chevy S-10 pickup truck.  When I hit bumps or make sharp turns, I loose all power to my dashboard...lights, fuel gauge, radio, etc.  It seems like a loose wire, but the shops all say they can't diagnose it unless it's actually happening when they have it hooked up.  Can't they (or I) just look for a loose wire?

Thanks,
Brad

Answer
Hello Brad, Boy this one takes me back in time,LOL. I think your problem is a loose ground wire located at the dash mounting bolt. This bolt is a 10mm socket head and is located on the lower corner of the dash near the door opening. Follow the dash down and under to locate this bolt and tighten it!! Check both the drivers and passenger sides. I think just the drivers has the ground wire on it. I hope this is correct because I haven't worked on one this old in many years.
