Chevrolet Repair: stalling engine, thermastat, coil wire

Question
my 1993 s10 stalled while driving it one night. While driving along the engine just stopped responding it took about 20 seconds before it finaly quit running. during that 20 seconds if you stepped on the gas it just would not respond. The next morning it started fine and ran fine for a few days. Now it happened again this time I waited a few hours and it started again. note- the heater has not been working well. Has new thermastat heater core. vaccum leak?. related?.

Answer
Hi Greg, The first thing you need to do is when it doesn't start go under the hood and remove the ignition coil wire from the coil. Now crank the engine and look for spark. If you don't have spark then you need to look at the ignition system. Things it could be are...module,coil,pick up coil.
If you have spark then check to see if you have fuel,do this by spraying some carb cleaner into the intake manifold and then try to start the engine. If it sounds like if trys to run then you have a fuel system problem. The fuel pump is the most common thing here.
