Chevrolet Repair: 98 Blazer 4x4 problem, problem thanks, transfer case

I have a 1998 Blazer.  I am having a hard time getting it to shift back to two wheel drive after being in "4HI".  (This is the push button system.)
I was successful once when I went from 4low and then back to 2HI.  Now that does not work!  When you press the 2HI button, you hear a few clicks and then it just stays in 4HI.  What could be the problem?

Hi Drew, This could be any one of the three main components. The first thing to do is disconnect the battery for a minute and see it that clears any code that might in the module for the 4wd. If this corrects the problem you might be all set.

      I have replaced a lot of modules and switches. Once in a while you need a new encoder motor, this is the piece that moves the shifter for the transfer case. It's all a guess on these systems because most of the time the problem is intermittent.
