Chevrolet Repair: Suspension, control arm bushings, tie rod ends

Question
I have a '92 Chevy G20 conversion van (high top) I hear a loose rattle in the right front wheel area whenever I hit a bump. I first thought it was a shock so I replaced them, but I still get the noise. I haven't had a chance to jack it up yet due to the weather, but how can I troubleshoot this problem. It has 125,00 miles and I recently replaced the brake pads so they are new and tight. The wheels were just balanced and rotated so they are tight and torqued.

Answer
Hi Don,
First, while driving and hearing the rattle, ever so slightly apply a little brake pressure with your left foot, and see if it stops, which could indicate the pads, although not necessarily.
Other possibles are sway bar grommets, control arm bushings, idler arm or tie rod ends. Could possibly even be a hub cap, or bumper bolts loose.
