Chevrolet Repair: Relay switch, washer motor, auto parts store

Question
I have a 2000 Monte Carlo in which I cannot use the windshield washers. The wipers work on every setting, but when I try and get fluid out..nothing happens. I bought a new wiper motor and I believe a new washer motor, but the ones on my car were fine. My son was thinking possibly a relay switch is bad, but I am not sure just how you check those switches or what it all entails. My warranty does not cover any wiper problems and my local dealership where I bought it quoted me over $300 to work on it...insisted that the washer motor AND wiper motor were bad, even though they are not.My son put both of these brand new on which we bought from an auto parts store and the same thing happens....no fluid. I cannot afford that kind of money right now....can you give some insight or suggest a manual or something. We looked for a chilton book but can't find any for my cars make. Thanks for your time!

Answer
Hi DeeAnne, The most common thing to go wrong with this is the wiper motor circuit(module). I don't know if you have to install this part on the new wiper motor or not. I think that you had to swap this part to the new motor. If not then you need to test for power at the washer pump while holding the washer switch on. If you don't have power then you need to trace down the wiring problem. A book is a must when tracing wires. Hope this helps a little.
