Chrysler Repair: power steering belt: 2.5L V-6

Question
hello, i have a 99 sebring with a 2.5L v6.  i had to replace the belts and have got the a/c belt already on.  i was wanting to ask u if u could help me to instal the p/s belt?  im not sure which bolt to loosen or take off to let the tension off to put on the new belt.  i have the car jacked up tire off and can get under car to see the pulley.  thank you very much for your help.

Answer
Hi Troy,
There are three bolts and a 1/2" square hole involved.
From above loosen the pivot bolt that holds the P/S unit mounting plate. From underneath you will find that there are two locking in-place bolts, one in a slot on the front side, and one in a slot on the rear side of the same plate on which the P/S is mounted, so loosen those bolts which now will allow you to rotate the P/S unit plate around the upper pivot bolt. Now install the belt. Then put a 1/2" breaker bar in the hole and you can apply torque to that to tension the belt and while doing that tighten the locking bolt on the rear side to 20 foot pounds (about as tight as a spark plug), and then while still holding tension tighten the locking bolt on the front side to 40 foot pounds. Finally tighten the pivot bolt to 40 foot pounds. Because the belt is new and will stretch slightly, you would want to have it tensioned fairly firmly (If you had a belt tension gauge that would be to a value of 150 pounds, but if not use your judgment).
If you find it difficult to get to these bolts you can remove the splash shield after taking off the right tire, but that involves removing a bunch of push-pins and snap fasteners.
Please read the PS (below) and respond to it.
Thanks,
Roland
