Chrysler Repair: 2006 Pacifica 3.5L Engine Noise: lash adjusters?

My father's 2006 base model Pacifica - 3.5 liter engine 107,000 miles has what appears to be the common engine ticking noise.  As per suggestion from another, synthetic oil was used at the last oil change with no success in correcting the concern.  He was told the heads had to be removed for repairs and quoted $1,200 fee.  My research netted the lash adjuster issue.  Any ideas on what/how to confirm along with any advice and/or suggestions and if possible ... your best "estimate" of repair costs?

I looked into the '06 manual and find that there are about 5 pages about lash adjusters on that engine both diagnosis and servicing techniques short of removing the heads which seems to be worth consideration to try that first. I can copy these pages from the manual and send them to you by email. Let me know your email address but don't use the @ symbol, instead use "at" or the address will be automatically erased from your follow up message. I have not heard of anyone following these techniques but it certainly appears to be something to try first particularly because Chrysler recommends this approach. I wonder if an engine machine shop would be the best place or a Chrysler dealership. Discussions with both sorts of shops bringing along the manual pages would be the way to go. You might even try to do the remediation process yourself.
