Chrysler Repair: 95 transmission fault codes

QUESTION: I had ask why my 1995 plymouth Voyager would shift 123 but jerked 3 times- every time but would not engage 4th gear. You ask for the codes. here they are-12-34-41-32.A do appreciate your help.Thank you.  Larry Parker

ANSWER: Hi Larry,
I am not certain that these are codes from the transmission controller. I say this because the 34 code is NOT one listed for the transmission.  I believe  I told you about this possible confusion. How and who did the code readout?  
The 12 code does mean the battery was recently disconnected, in both of the module's code lists. The 32 code is pointing toward the 2-4 hydraulic pressure switch and the 41 is for the LR solenoid circuit. Both those are in the pack located on the side of the trans which can be replaced.
On the other hand, the 32 code points toward the EGR valve of the engine and the 41 code towards the alternator circuit if these codes were read out of the engine controller. The 34 code is about the cruise control function.
But unless you are SURE that the code readout was of the transmission controller, was done using a plug-in code reader at the blue plug under the dash, I would not go and replace that solenoid/pressure switch pack.

QUESTION: My 1995 PlymouthVoyager shifts 123 but when it tries to go to 4th overdrive it jerks 3 times- every time and dont make 4th gear. The Codes are 12,34, 41 32. please help if you can. I know for sure it's not the shift solenoid. Could the cruise control disconnected cause any tranmission problems The only means of checking the codes were through the check engine light. Couldn't afford to let a shop check them. Auto zone said "they dont check 1st gen. codes anymore" Thanks a lot. LarryParker

Hi Larry,
The best you can do is check with independent repair shops to see what they charge to do a
OBD-I code readout from that blue plug as that is the only way to get the codes. You might also try transmission repair shops to see what they would charge, and that might be a low/no cost approach that they would do in order to get you to give them the repair job. I think you can get the code readout for $40 which is worth it because buying parts hoping to fix the transmission is going to cost you much more than $40. Be sure to get the code numbers.
Let me know what you find out before authorizing any repairs.
