Chrysler Repair: 1998 mercury grand marquis

Question
Hey Roland, i have a 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis and I'm trying to figure out why it wont crank...I install a new fuel pump and a crank shaft sensor but i still can't get crank...Its turning over put its not cranking.

Answer
I am not familiar with the details of Ford engine wiring. I wonder if there is a way to get a fault code readout using the ignition key, or there is a socket under the dash where you can plug in a fault code reader to try and get a valid fault code. It might be that the other engine rotational position sensor (on the camshaft) is the problem, but I wouldn't replace it or anything else until I got a fault code to work with. Check at a Ford/Mercury repair site for how to get a fault code via the ignition switch or ask a dealer how.
