QUESTION: Hi
You had answered a previous question regarding the security system on my Concorde and the vehicle not starting.   I have tried to not use the key fob or lock the car electronically but I am still having problems with it starting.  You had mentioned that maybe the wire from the key lock is no longer connected to the body controle module and that you could advise which connection to verify.  I was wondering if you could send that info along.  I cannot get the car to start no matter what I do.  No response at all.  Battery is brand new so I know it has to do with the security system.  thanks!

ANSWER: Hi Andy,
When you say "no response at all" do you mean the starter motor rotates the engine but it won't start, or that the starter motor won't even rotate the engine? The security system when it operates does not affect the starter motor. Rather it allow the engine to start, then it shuts it off after a couple of seconds. So I need to know exactly what happens when you try to start it.

QUESTION: When I turn the key there is a "click" but nothing turns over.  It has done this many times in the past and eventually it'll start.  But so far I've had no luck.  I feel fairly certain this is related to the security system because this is the same symptoms as before.  Also, there is full power. (new battery)  I thought about disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, which is a hassle and won't resolve the issue long term.  Thanks.

Hi Andy,
If the click is loud enough to hear in the cabin then that means that the circuit that should activate the starter motor is working. The problem then is either the heavy duty connection wires are possibly loose or corroded. OR the starter motor itself is not responding even though it is getting voltage. I would suspect the latter. So what you could do is try tapping with a hammer on the side of the starter motor while a helper is trying the start position with the key.
If that works, then it would likely be that the starter motor is in need of  a rebuild, e.g. new brushes/contacts, and if it doesn't then I would check the fat wire from the battery to the starter motor to make sure it is clean and tight at both ends. Of course disconnect the ground clamp of the battery before touching the fat red wire. If that still doesn't work, and you do get the loud click then I would say for sure that you need to get the starter motor rebuilt.
This so far has nothing to do with the theft security system, so for get about that. It would only be suspect if the engine started but then automatically shuts off after a second or so.
