Chrysler Repair: 99 Cirrus: No start/no spark, primary resistance, noid light

Question
1999 cirrus 2.5    no spark , no noid light flash, no codes , no rpm signal on scan tool  - crank and cam sensor seems ok turning over by hand - have power at green orange wire at alt.  - green orange wire at dist.  has power test light wont blink cranking with starter but does turning by hand ,  coil primary resistance .7 ohms secondary  7000 ohms ,  not spark at coil tower , fuel pump runs but i think its out of gas anyway,  cant check fuel presure with out special tube   I'm running out of things to check I must be missing something  Help Please

Answer
Hi Tim,
If you have power on the dark green/orange while cranking then the rotational sensors are at least putting out signals that satisfy the PCM. No spark might then be attributed to a failer coil secondary (winding should read 12,000 to 18,000 ohms) or failed rotor or a cracked distributor cap. So see if the rotor is patent between the spring button and the tip of the rotor, and inspect tha cap for cracks. Remeasure the winding resistance and if at only 7,000 ohms then that would certainly cause a very weak spark or no spark.
