Chrysler Repair: blinker wont auto turn off on 05 T & C, cam lobes, clock spring

Question
My blinker won't turn off on my 05 T & C.  It makes a clicking noise when the wheel is turned in either direction.  The blinker works but it won't turn off automatically it has to be done manually.  I want to fix this myself not at the dealer.

Answer
Hi Troy,
The turn signal cancellation is a mechanically-actuated action accomplished by cam lobes on the clock-spring attached to the steering wheel coming into contact with the cancellation tab which is part of the multi-function switch itself. So either that tab is inoperative/broken, the lobes on the clockspring are worn down, or the multifunction switch may be loosely attached to the steering column so that the mechanical interface is not occuring. I would suggest that you remove the shrouds on the steering column (upper and lower which are held in place by screws on the underside) and inspect the multifunction switches screw for firm attachment. If that is not the answer then I would remove the screws and inspect the cancellation actuator and look at the lobes on the adjacent clock-spring coupling to determine which part is worn out.
