Chrysler Repair: Taillight wiring 2001 Town & Country, postal mail, fog lamp

Question
QUESTION: Can you provide me with the wiring diagram of the LH and RH taillight connectors for a 2001 Town and Country Lxi 3,8? Having the color codes on the plug positions (1-6)  would be a great help.

ANSWER: Hi Pierre,
Is this the US model or an export model? Does the taillight have the back up lamps also involved in it, and a fog lamp (export model only). I have to ask because I have an '02 and an '98 manual and I need to know which is correct. I suspect it is like the '02. Do you need to know more than the color code/assignment/pin numbers? I can check the '04 wiring diagrams that I have on a CD and could email to you if they are the same as the '02. Otherwise I have to copy and postal mail those to you.

Sorry for the delay but I just found your question in the pool to which it had been referred by Kevin.

QUESTION: Hi Roland,

It is a 2001  US model Town & Country which would be the same as a 2002. It was modified with european taillights but kept giving problems due to the run-stop-turn signal feedback. I just got hold of a set of original US taillights and wanted to know how  to connect the plugs with the correct  color code/assignment/pin numbers so I can get it working correctly and I will add a separate foglight which is already wired. Thanks Pierre

Answer
Hi Pierre,
On the right rear:
1 wt/br  turn signal driver
2 same as 1
3 wt/or park lamp relay output
4 wt/light green back up lamp
5 black/brown ground
6 white/tan brake switch signal

These are as the plugs should be wired domestic.

On the left rear:
1 wt/dark green turn signal
2 wt/brown (but says 'not used' about the internal assembly connection; if trailer/tow
then that wire is used at the right combo relay)
3 wt/br park lamp relay output
4 wt/lg back up
5 bk/dg ground
6 wt/tn  brake lamp

I hope these work correctly. There is some strange wire color duplication on the two sides that doesn't quite compute. This is all from the non-export wiring diagrams.
