Question
while driving my LHS it seem to kick into nutrel but takes a few seconds to kick back into gear what would cause that? I was told to change filter but not change the fluid.. What can i do? Then the security system now goes off as soon as i turn the egnition on but my trunk lid wont close all the way, would that be the problem... think i need to put a new latch on trunk... I just bought the car and seems to run good but gotta fix these problems! Anything else i should be concerned of? please help

Answer
Hi Robert,
The best way to understand what might be wrong with the transmission would be to get a fault code readout of the system using a code reader that plugs into a socket under the dash by the steering column. You can often get this done for free at an Autozone or similar nationwide parts store, or an independent shop might charge $40. Ask for the fault code number(s), what they mean, what to do, and about how expensive to fix. Let me know the results and we can compare notes with the shop manual.
On the anti-theft system, the trunk key lock cylinder is part of the system so take a look at that aspect as well as the latch. It may be that you simply need to adjust the latch/striker interface to get the trunk to secure itself. Also, tell me exactly what is happening with the alarming function and are you having any problems starting the car because of it? You can always by-pass this system by never using the remove key fob or the door key to secure the car when you leave it. Simply use the mechanical push buttons on the inside doors as you exit. The alarm then won't be 'set'.
Tell me the year/engine of the vehicle if you write back.

PS Sorry for the delay but I just found your question in the 'pool' to which it had been referred by Kevin.
