Chrysler Repair: thermostat: 3.2/3.5L, oil pressure switch, upper radiator hose

Question
where is the thermostat located on a 2001 chrysler 300m

Answer
On the 3.2/3.5L engines it is on the lower left side of the engine where the lower radiator hose (on the left side of the radiator) and a heater hose, attached to the thermostat housing mounted to the engine, at their far ends. You would want to drain off the coolant collecting it for re-use, raise the left front side, disconnect the power steering pressure switch and oil pressure switch plugs, and then disconnect the radiator and heater hoses and finally remove the bolts from the thermostat housing. Notice the position of the thermostat, specifcally that the bleed hole is positioned at noon. Use a new gasket and tighten the bolts to 8 foot-pounds. When refilling be sure to open the bleed valve on the top front of the engine, attach a length of 1/4" hose to the nipple and then pour fluid into the filler bottle using the special funnely until the fluid comes out the hose. Squeeze on the upper radiator hose to remove air from the 1/4" hose and fill some more (recycle collected fluid'. There is an accessory funnel that allow you to only fill one chamber of that bottle (after squeezing tight the connecting hose at the bottle fill opening) and prevent the filling of the overflow return chaamber. The funnel has the number 8195.
