Chrysler Repair: hood release cable, chrysler intrepid, weather out

Question
I'm having trouble changing out a broken hood release cable on a 1999 Chrysler Intrepid. I have the cable pulled out as far as the fire wall and it's stuck. The new cable has about 4" rubber sleave on the cable about a foot away from the hood release handle. How do you go about getting this through the fire wall? I think the rubber sleave is designed to keep the weather out.

Answer
Hi Peter,
I am not clear about what might be still on the front end of the old cable that is preventing it from coming through the firewall, so you might want to push it forward and examine that. The replacement cable has to go through the same hole going in other direction. The details for the procedure are shown on a couple of pages in my '98 manual which I also have on a CD for the '04 model year which is identical. I can copy the pages off the CD and attach them to an email. But to do that I need to know your email address which I don't normally see. Please ask me a new question where you simply list your email address. Then click on the box to keep the question 'private' and submit the question. I will then be able to send you an email with the pages attached. If you don't clikc on the box the address will not come through to me but will be erased.

PS Sorry for the delay but I just found your question in the 'pool' to which the other expert Kevin has referred it.
