Chrysler Repair: Troublecode 1776 - Transmission, 2004 chrysler concorde, solenoid pack

Question
QUESTION: Hello, I have a 2004 Chrysler Concorde 2.7 engine with the following transmission codes: P0700, P1776 and one additional code I failed to record before erasing but it had to the with the L/F switch...

I saw similar data but was not sure if it applied to the Concorde. Thank you for your time and help!

Phil

ANSWER: Hi Phillip,
The 1776 points to the L-R solenoid valve in the valve body being in the wrong position. That can be serviced by dropping the pan and removing the valve body and solenoid back as a unit. But I would be interested in the other code as well. So drive it some more and do another code readout and get all the numbers. The 0700 is just a general statement that there are other specific codes stored in the memory.

QUESTION: Hi Roland,

the other troublecode was P0440 for the evap system...

there are no other trans related codes, only P0700 and P1776... can 1776 cause the 0700... the top reported fixes for 0700 was in the output and input sensor but I will have to research how to do what you mention for the 1776 code...  any help would be greatly appreciated!

Answer
Hi Phillip,
Whenever a specific trans code is detected the memory also logs an 0700, but often when the readout is done by self-diagnostics of the vehicle it can't access the specific number for transmission codes so instead just give you an 0700 so you would then know to do a readout with a plug-in reader to get the specific code. Likely the input/output sensors are codes that come up more frequently, but because you have the 1776 I believe that is what you need to deal with. I have the '04 manual on a CD which I can copy pages from and attach to an email directly to you that show how to remove the valve body/solenoid pack combo, and the details about the L-R solenoid valve's location on the valve body. Nothing is given for whether to clean or replace the valve so you would have to examine it and determine what you need and get the parts from a dealer parts counter. If you want those pages let me know by sending a follow-up question where you tell me your email address (because I don't normally see that) and be sure to click on the 'keep the question private' option as otherwise the email address will be censored out of what I receive.
