Chrysler Repair: chrysler voyager bump starts only, chrysler grand voyager, jumper cables

Question
QUESTION: my chrysler grand voyager 2.5 crd turns over but will not fire,
(even if warm) has half a tank of fuel but sounds like its emty, will bump start and runs very well with no misfire.

ANSWER: Hi Alan,
Try to get a fault code readout using the ignition key:"on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the odometer window to see the km reading disappear and in its place a 4-digit number preceded by a P. Let me know any such result and we'll go from there. Also, what is the year model? By bump start I assume that you mean a push start and that you have a clutch, not an automatic transmission. Have you tried jumper cables?

QUESTION: the car is an 02 mark 2, no 4 digit code appeared in the odometer window, i assume you mean the one over head on the odo setting and yes i did mean push start,it is manual car

Answer
Thanks for the clarification. I meant to direct your attention to the odometer window in the instrument cluster. So give that a try. Also, what about the starting behavior when using another vehicle's battery to do a 'jump' start? The high compression used in diesel engines makes it important to have a well working battery to crank at the necessary rpm to get it to start.
