Chrysler Repair: 2002 Chrysler Voyager: power sliding door, chrysler voyager, temperature gauge

Question
QUESTION: HI,
I have a 2002 Chrysler Voyager. Both side view mirrors do not work.  I tried to replace the switch on the door but that did not work.  I would like to check the fuse but I cannot tell which one it is.  Any idea?
Also, for the same vehicle, the temperature gauge that is located on the panel on the roof is registering -40.  Obviously, that is not correct.  Could this be a fuse problem as well or could the sensor be bad?  I am guessing but I believe that the sensor is in the middle of the front of the van, right in front of the radiator/AC condensor, Correct?  If not, where else would they hide it?
Thank you!
Tim

ANSWER: Hi Tim,
If you have the convenitional mirrors check fuse 18, and if you have the memory mirrors also check fuse 22.
The temp sensor is on the front panel that surrounds the radiator so you probably have identified it. It wires are violet/green and violet/brown. They connect to pins 23 and 25 of the front control module which is on the front of the intergrated power mocule under the hood.

PS Sorry for the delay but I just found your question in the 'pool' to which it had been referred by the other expert.

QUESTION: Hi,
Thank you so much for this response. It gives me some direction. The mirrors are obviously electric, so I would think that they are conventional.  They do not have a memory feature.  I am assuming that it is a fuse since neither of the mirrors do not work and I hear nothing come from either of them.  Will check out the fuses you suggest and hopefully that will do it.
Since the temperature gauge is reading -40, I am assuming that the sensor is either bad or somehow the connection is loose.  The sensor I found is in front of the radiator or AC condensor. You have to look through the front bumper cover, approximately in the middle, to see it.  It is the only thing that looks like it could be a sensor.  Does that sound about right?
Thanks again, this is a very big help.

I have one more question but feel bad adding it onto the one I already asked.  I am first timer on this site, so I do not want to violate and of the rules.  If I can ask another question, let me know.

ANSWER: Hi Tim,
It sounds like you have the location of the sensor. And the sensor should show 336k ohms at -40F though I don't know where you will find such a cool test location. An 'open' (infinite ohms)  will also show -40. So either the sensor is 'open' or one of the two wires is open on the way to the front control module. Likely the sensor itself has been damaged.
Sure, you can ask another question. At some point you have to ask a 'new' question to keep going.

QUESTION: Roland,
The other thing that has stopped working on this van is the sliding side door. If you push the button, you can hear the motor, but the door seems jambed.  I can see that it is run on a plastic chain like mechanism, but I cannot see how you get to work on this.  I am thinking of trying to clean all of the tracks, etc. and see where that gets me.  Can you give me a rough idea on how I would get into this door enough to work on it?
Thanks again,
Tim

Answer
Hi Tim,
I would suggest that you start with a fault code readout via a plug-in code reader to see if the body computer shows a fault code. You can often get a free readout at a nationwide parts store such as Autozone. The power sliding door section of the '02 manual is 20 pages in length. If you get a specific code I can copy the relevant pages from a CD and send them to you as an attachment to an email. But doing all 20 pages is a task that involves a little too much clicking/mousing for me to want to try that. Let me know what results from a readout. A specific item to focus upon might be revealed that way.
Or if you would like I could xerox copy the 20 pages and postal mail them to you. It costs 10 cents each plus the postage would all together be covered if you would send me back six 44-cent stamps after you get them. If you want me to do that, send me a 'private' option follow-up question where you list your postal mailing address.
