Chrysler Repair: speedometer problem: 01 T&C, trip odometer, self calibration

Question
QUESTION: I have a 2001 chysler town and country, when stopped my speedometer
reads between 10 and 20 miles and hour.

ANSWER: Hi Jeffery,
Try a self-calibration of the cluster: With the ignition 'off', depress and hold the trip odometer reset button. Then hold it until a number appears in the window such as 'Sof 3.2', then release the button and see if any other numbers appear. Then  continue watching while the cluster calibrates itself. Then see if the issue is resolved.

Jeff Johnston
thank you very much for your response.

Answer
Hi Jeffrey,
I wonder whether this might be an issue with the brake lamp circuit and not the transmission system. Does the speedo jump when you very gently move the brake pedal just enough to activate the brake lights but not so much as to perceptibly cause a braking action? And when you release the pedal quickly, from a dead stop, does it similarly return to normal instantly? If that were the case then we have another possibility to look into: that it is an electrical short of some sort that affects the speedo reading.
Let me know.
Roland
PS I would appreciate your clicking on the 'thank/rate' tab and giving me a nomination to be 'volunteer of the month' as I am just 1 vote behind the leader at this point. Thank you
