Chrysler Repair: Limp mode / Solonoid replacement, solenoid pack, continuity tests

Question
QUESTION: Roland:
No additional follow ups would go thru so here is the tail end of your last answer to me on my 1995 Caravan, code 43, limp mode problem:

Hi Brent,
It could simply be an problem in the solenoid pack which generally is replaced as a whole unless you want to try and repair it. The wiring should be check first:
The OD solenoid connection is pin 60 of the tcm to pin 6 at the solenoid pack. The OD pressure switch circuit is pin 9 of the tcm to pin 3 at the solenoid pack. If those are continuous and not shorted to ground when you have both plugs removed from their sockets then presumably there is a problem with the solenoid proper and so you would try replacing the solenoid pack. You can do that yourself because it is on the outside of the transmission. You simply remove the input speed sensor, then the sound cover, and finally the three screws (vertical) that hold the pack in place. Watch to be sure the gaskets are all back in place.

I checked the continuity on the cicuits per your suggestion. They were ok so I replaced the Solonoid Pack. Still have the limp in problem. Do I need to have the codes cleared again and the quick learn procedure done in order to get out of limp mode?
Thanks in advance.
Brent

ANSWER: Hi Brent,
I believe that simply disconnecting the battery for a minute or so will clear the memories of the engine and trans computers. That should cancel the limp mode. I will review the earlier exchanges to see if I have any other suggestions. The trans will Learn its operating parameters anew which can happen slowly or by self-performing the quick learn. I don't believe that would have any affect on a prior limp cancellation need.

QUESTION: Hi Roland:
Cleared the codes per your instructions and re-ran the continuity tests you gave me (which came up good). Still have limp mode and instrument cluster still going in and out as well. Could it be the TCM since the new solonoid pack didn't fix it or could it be some other bad connection since the instrument cluster is acting up as well? Not sure what to try next. I've seen a deal where I can buy a refurbed TCM with up to date software, and return it for a re-stocking fee if that isn't the problem. What do you think?

Thanks,
Brent

Answer
I would agree with trying the re-stockable TCM replacement. But first, how about disconnecting the cluster and see if that has any affect on the trans behavior? It might be causing a CCD bus problem, so why not eliminate that possibility. If no change, then get the tcm. I hope that you still are dealing with a 43 code from the trans memory as you have tried all the other possible causes for that code.
