i have a concorde that wont reverse  it gors forward theres fluid in there (no burnt smell) whats wrong with my baby? could it be a link problem?

Answer
Hi Ebony,
You could try moving the gear shift slightly off the center of the reverse detent postion to see if that would cause it to shift into reverse, otherwise its not the linkage between the shifter and the vertical shift rod on the transmission.
The two general possibilities are that there is a problem in the solenoid/pressure switch assembly which is usually dealt with by replacing that hydraulic control assembly which can be done without removing and rebuilding the transmission. The other is that the reverse clutch or other internal part has gone bad which does require a removal.
The best approach would be to have the transmission control module's memory read-out for the presence of fault codes which would differentiate between the two possibilities. That is done with a fairly advanced reader at a Chrysler dealer (DRB II reader) or at an independent shop (such as a Snap-on reader with the necessary capability). The fault codes are two-digit numbers so ask for all numbers that come out and let me know. The readout is done at a blue socket under the dash by the steering column which has 6 pins arrages in a 2 x 3 rectangle, which is called the data link connector. There is a different connector in the engine compartment which only reads out the engine control module. Those engine codes are alos two-digit so you have to be sure that the numbers you get are from the proper socket with the correct reader set-up.
