Chrysler Repair: 05 t & c 3.8 v-6; no start- codes 0685, 0688, amp fuse, power steering fluid

Question
QUESTION: was driving and the van just stalled and can not restart.its getting fuel to the fuel rail but im getting no spark to the plugs???thanks

ANSWER: Hi Mark,
Try turning the ignition:"on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the odometer window to see if the mileage reading changes to show a 4-digit number preceded by a P. That would be a fault code telling us what the engine controller believes is wrong and we'll go from there. Send me a follow-up with the code number. I'll check the wiring diagrams in the meantime to see if I can ID a fuse that may have blown.

QUESTION: there where 3 codes. P0129. P0685. P0688.that was all of them,thanks

ANSWER: Hi Mark,
The 0685 and 0688 speak to the automatic shutdown relay not being activated which would explain the no spark and also no fuel injector action. It is in the front of the power box under hood and it needs fuse #16 (25 amp) for it to be powered. Check that fuse, which is located directly to the rear of the relay, and then if that is OK try switching out the relay with a different one of the same part number and which is not critical to running the engine. Let me know if neither approach bears fruit.
The 0129 is about the manifold absolute pressure sensor output signial is abnormally low. That might be due to a bad sensor or a shorting of the 5v supply wire or the output signal wire to ground. It is located on the intake manifold next to the power steering fluid reservoir. Take a look at the harness to see if you find any melted insulation or other damage to the wires.

QUESTION: the fuse was blown, replaced it and it blew again, traced back the wire you said might be shorting out and found that it was, fixed it and replaced the 25 amp fuse and all is well.do i need to reset the computer to cancel the codes??and again thats for all your help with this matter, mark

Answer
Hi Mark,
That is good news. You can either let them self-cancel after sufficient number of trips (50-100) or disconnect the battery - post clamp for a minute or so which will erase them except for new code that says you 'disconnected the battery'. And the time and radio presets etc. will erase too.
You are welcome.
