Chrysler Repair: 1999 Chrysler 300M, diagnostic capability, chrysler 300m

Question
My Chrysler 300M at various times dont start up..i turn the key in the ignition and everything comes on but it does not start up..i will try this sometimes 2 or 3 times or maybe a lil more sometimes it starts..but then sometimes i have to wait like 15 to 20 mins to try to start it again and it turns on..i have asked people and wrecked my brain but some people say that its censors that maybe going or gone, or the anti-theft system is the problem.   Also, its becomeing more frequent that when i drive sometimes the car stalls in the middle of me driving..but its strange because everything still works in the car..its like somebody shut the car off...i need to kinda know what maybe the problem

Answer
Hi Michael,
It could be a failing engine rotational position sensor. There is a self-diagnostic capability built-in. Use the ignition key: turn it "on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the odometer window of the cluster to see the mileage reading disappear and instead a 4-digit number preceded by a P. Let me know what number(s) appear and we'll go from there. Tell me which size engine you have when you write back.
