Chrysler Repair: downshift problem auto trans - Neon 2002, neon 2002, private option

i have a rough / bump when downshift from 3-2, upshifting is smooth no problem at all. no engine light and i tried to disconnect the battery plus adding 1 liter of fluid, but no change. i flushed the fluid n changed the filter when it was 50,000 km. My car only has 92000 km or apprx 60k miles and i always use ATF+4 fluid.

Hi Handy,
There is no specific symptom for 'harsh downshifting' in the manual. I believe that this '02 model is the the first year that the Neon has an electronic transaxle. That means there is self-diagnositic capability on board. I would suggest that you go to a nationwide parts store, such as Autozone, where they will do a free code readout via a plug under the dash. Once you find out the fault code we can then see what the manual says might be the problem.
