Chrysler Repair: Radio lost AM signal when cable disconnected, antenna cable, cable plug

Question
No AM signal. I disconnected and reconnected antenna cable from back of Radio and now it don't work. It worked before. Now it doesn't. What now?

Answer
The likelihood is that the central wire in the cable plug has come unsoldered. If you have an ohmmeter or continuity tester check to see that there is a connection from the antenna rod proper to the central pin of the plug. If you find it to be 'open' then try heating the tip with a soldering gun. The other possibility is that the 'ears' on the outside of the plug need to be pinched in slightly so as to make better contact with the external surface of the socket. I believe that the FM signal only needs the center wire to be good, but the AM needs both the center wire and the shield to be connected well.
