Chrysler Repair: Coolant Cap: Chrysler 300 2006, coolant tank, chrysler 300

Question
Hi, I wanted to fill my coolant tank and it will not open, It states on the tank to properly fill use miller tool, I went to Auto Zone and explained what I was trying to do and they gave me a blank stare and did not know what it was. It looks to be very low and perhaps why my engine light is on. Please help me understand what the tool is.

Thanks MG

Answer
Hi Mercedes,
The filler cap should come off the top of the coolant bottle, but because it is plastic you would not want to use too much torque and break the plastic bottle or the cap. Try rocking the cap back and forth to loosen up any binding. Once you have the cap removed you will want to pinch the small hose on the neck with a clamp so fluid will not flow between the two section of the bottle as you fill it. The Miller 8195 tool is a funnel with a divider that when you pour fluid into one side of the divider there will be a pathway for displaced air to exit from the bottle. I believe if you pour fresh coolant in slowly that you can fill the bottle to the min-max level without running into a problem with air trapment. Once you have done that, remove the clamp from the hose and put the cap back on the bottle firmly. Use 5-year life type coolant.
