Chrysler Repair: 03 Intrepid; Still going into limp mode after replacing the valve body/solenoid pack, code 1776, solenoid pack, solenoid switch

Question
I have a 2003 Intrepid 2.7 v6 that was going into limp mode after driving for a few miles at 45 mph or over. The codes were P0700, P1776, P0841, P0871, and P0731. The dealer said I needed to replace the Valve body and solenoid pack to fix the problem. I purchased the remanufactured Valve body/solenoid pack from the dealer and installed it. The car still goes into limp mode, and I now have just the P1776 code. took it back to the dealer and they said they didnt get the P1776 code, but wanted to run through the wiring, and replace the shift cable. Took it to another repair place and the mech put his scanner on it and got the P1776 code. he also said he doesn't think its in the wiring or PCM. Not sure what to do next. I suspect that I just got a bad part, and maybe the dealer is trying to avoid admitting it. Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hi James,
The Chrysler shop manual says that the solenoid switch valve (part of the valve body) is latched in the L-R position (when it shouldn't be). If there were also a 1784 there could be an issue with the L-R pressure switch sense circuit and that would suggest looking into a possible wiring of that circuit to investigate BUT absent that code it points to the valve body (switch valve therein) being the source of the problem. The wire for activating the low-reverse solenoid is light blue and connects pin 6 of the solenoid pack to to pin 10 of the pcm #4 plug so if you verified the continuity/lack of a short to ground of that wire I believe the wiring issue would be resolved. The L-R sense circuit is not called out as the problem. So it is reasonable to suspect the valve body is the problem.
