Chrysler Repair: 96 2.5L V-6: no start, chrysler sebring, cam sensor

Question
My car died out, started 5-10 more times and hasn't started since. Fuel is no problem, I am getting no fire. Can't find a computer module #4606228. Closes one is 4606225. Will that work? I have a 1996 chrysler sebring 2.5 V6 jx coupe. Or could it be my distributor? It is either one.

Answer
Hi Rick,
The best approach is to seek a fault code readout from you engine control module using the igntion key:"on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the 'check engine' light, which remains 'on', to see it begin to flash, pause, flash, etc. Count the number of flashes before each pause. Then repeat the process to assure an accurate set of flash counts. Then send me a follow-up question with the counts, in order of appearance. We'll go from there.
The most likely cause is either the crank position sensor or the cam sensor located in the distributor. The fault codes will tell us which, if so. I doubt the ecm is the problem, so don't spend any money until we get the fault code readout.
