Chrysler Repair: Odometer not showing:99 minivan, plymouth voyager, 1999 plymouth voyager

Question
After sitting for a year, I replaced the battery in my Mom's 1999 Plymouth Voyager.  It cranks fine, but the odemeter doesn't light up.  It is electronic, so there is no way to see waht the mileage is.  What is probably wrong?

Answer
Hi Don,
Virtually the entire cluster is powered by two fuses, and neither is specific only for the odometer. So it may just be a failure of that component which will only be corrected by replacing the cluster. You could try two things:
With the ignition off, press and hold the trip and trip reset buttons, then turn the ignition on while continuing to hold those buttons, and wait to see if within 5 seconds the odometer shows the word CODE. When it does release the buttons and see what happens next. If CODE does not appear than I would suggest that you remove the cluster and find on the circuit board the odometer unit and try warming up all the solder points around that unit in case there is a 'cold' solder joint causing a poor connection. If neither of those approaches work a replacement cluster will be needed.
