Chrysler Repair: alarm on a 1991 chrysler new yorker, power door locks, chrysler new yorker

Question
I can't get my alarm to stop going off every time I open the
door. It is really annoying and I bought the car without a
remote. I am ready to torch the thing cause I do most of my
driving at night.

Answer
Hi Rebecca,
Try using the passenger side door lock key to disable the alarm when you come to unlock the car. It should work better than the driver side lock whose wire is probably broken.
If you want to avoid the alarm system being set then only use the inside push buttons to set the mechanical locks. Don't use the power door locks or the door lock keys and thus the alarm won't be armed. There is a way to disconnect the alarm system which involves removing the glove box (remove the screws all around the edge), then locating the alarm module, then turn on the engine, and finally pull the plug on the alarm system WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING. Let me know if you want more specifics on that approach.

Hi Rebecca,
Thanks for the rating and nomination. Do you mean that you disconnected the plug from the security system box above the glove box? If not, and you want to do that, just do what I said to do above. After removing the glove box you will see a bracket that holds several modules (if you have also the lamp outage module and the keyless entry module. The theft module is the one with a 21-pin plug that is 'natural' in color. Then WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING pull the plug out of the module.
