Chrysler Repair: 2000 Chrysler Seb. Conv. Transm. Fluid leak, solenoid pack, transmission control module

Question
QUESTION: Roland, I sent my question about 5 minutes ago, but got some psychic reading reply. Not sure if you received it.
Took my Sebring to my repair shop and was told that(not sure which one)I needed either a selanoid pack or control module repair. Large leak from round hole or seal into pan Thoughts? Thanks

ANSWER: Hi Richard,
I would ask whether the repair of the leak might not be appropriately done first, and then see how the trans functions. You didn't mention any malfunctions.
The other thing to do is get the fault code readout from the transmission control module memory by inserting a code reader in socket under the dash by the steering column. Ask for the 4-digit code numbers, if any, which might tell us if the solenoid pack or the transcontrol module is faulty. Otherwise, I would focus on the leak first and not go further than that without more information.

QUESTION: Thanks for the quick reply. I've been using this shop for about 2 years. Generally right on the money and fairly priced. I asked him to look at my leak problem and was told that one of the two problems mentioned earlier was the cause of the leak. I thought either the selanoid pack or the control module was actually causing the leak. There was no mention of faulty seals or a dented pan to be fixed first. He was specific about a round broken part leaking into the tranny pan.Thoughts? Thanks, Richard

Answer
I just can't picture what 'round broken part' or 'round hole or seal leaking into the pan' might be. If you trust them, let them do whatever they say needs to be done. The 'control module' is an electroic unit far-removed from the tranny, and the solenoid pack is indeed mounted on the outside of the transmission and can be replaced without removing the transmission. You haven't told me any symptoms or trouble codes so I just have to pass on any other advice.
