Chrysler Repair: 98 Concorde stalls, chrysler concorde, flexible coupling

Question
For the past month, 98 Chrysler Concorde with 3.5 engine and 37000 miles stalls within the first 5-10 minutes when driving.  After coasting to side of road, engine either starts right up or might take 5-10 minutes to re-start. (No fire or sounds like no fuel.) After the car is re-started runs perfectly. Two mechanics can find no codes to work with.  The only code that I find by turning the ignition is P1384. Also the Cruise Control light comes on the dash when it stalls.

Answer
Hi Chris,
Did you mean 1684, because I don't find a 1384? It may be that one of the engine rotation sensors is beginning to fail, as this sort of die then recover in a few minutes is characteristic. You might want to verify that the fuel pump is heard when you first turn the key to the 'run' position after the stall has occured. Also checking for spark would be a useful diagnostic. If the cam postition sensor fails that would set an 0340, while the cam sensor would set an 0320.
Why the cruise control light comes on is a mystery to me, and I assume this stalling occurs when you are not it cruise mode, correct?
That light is activated by information transmitted over the digital data bus wires so it may be indicative of a problem within that communication system itself as I doubt the cruise system would put out a false activation message. I suppose it could be due to an issue with wires in the clockspring flexible coupling between the steering wheel (cruise control buttons) and the steering column but I don't understand why such an issue would stall out the engine unless it gave a message that it wanted to cruise at "0" mph.
Sorry for the delay but I just found your question in the 'pool' to which it had been referred by Kevin.
