Chrysler Repair: 2000 town and country stalls while driving, digit code number, wd 40

Question
hello
I have a 2000 T&C, 3.3tr with about 173,000 miles. The van has started stalling while driving. It doesn't matter if the engine is cold or warmed up. It's been happening at highway speed and in the city at 35-40 mph and the rpm's just tank. No  signs indicating that anything is wrong. Sometimes we don't even notice that we've stalled   until   the loss of power steering. At that point we throw it in neutral and start it back up.  please help.thank you

Answer
Hi Yelena,
I would suggest that you get a free fault code readout at an Autozone or similar nationwide chain of autopart vendors. That may tell us something specific. Ask for the 4-digit code number and let me know.
One possibility is that the egr valve is sticking slightly ajar when you let up on the gas or slow to a stop and then the engine dies. You can correct that by spraying some WD-40 on the valve stem where it enters the valve body and then working the stem back and forth, (against spring-action in one direction that is trying to close it) so as to free up the movement.
Another possibility is that one of the two engine rotation sensors is failing, and then healing as it cools off, though that usually manifests as a failure to restart until a number of minutes later. It sounds like you don't have that sort of a situation, yet.
Let me know if you get a code and do check the egr.
