Chrysler Repair: 02 Chrysler Sebring: Sebring, chrysler sebring, power locks

Question
I left my trunk open all night and came out to a dead battery the following morning. I charged the battery and was reading full. I went to try and turn the car on and when I turn the key it does nothing. Also the power locks are not working when I go to use them with the keyless entry. On the odometer it is reading "no bus". Do you know what may have went wrong? Thank you.

Answer
Hi Heather,
I wonder whether the gear shift might not be in park or neutral so that the safety interlock is preventing the starter motor from working. You could open the power distribution box under the hood, then have a helper try to start while you touch the starter relay to feel if it is clicking when the key is turned to the start position. I can't speak about the relation of the no start to the 'no bus' message, but you could try rapping on the top of the dash, above the  instrument cluster, as sometimes there is a loose connection in the cluster that causes that sort of a message and which may disable the digital communication which would affect the door locks and even possibly the starter funtion. That might jar the loose connection back into contact. Let me know what you learn.
