Chrysler Repair: 89 Lebaron drops into N when accelerating, filter hoses, vertical shift

Question
Hello,

I have a 1989 LeBaron convert with a 4 cyl (not turbo) FI engine with about 200K (engine was rebuilt about 40K ago).  I recently had the car parked for about a month while I replaced the convertible top and the fuel filter & hoses.  After everthing was back together, I took for a ride and found that the car was on the sluggish side and when I floored it on the highway, the shift would click out of D and into N.  It would physically move the shift in the floor console.  I didn't have this issue at all prior to my repairs.  I'm thinking the gas filter hoses may need to be switched (IN/OUT)?  Not sure how accelerating would impact the shifter though?

Answer
I would check the routing of the shift cableh housing to be sure it isn't binding up somewhere along the engine pathway to the transmission, but even more likely is that the front engine mount is loose or worn out such that when you accelerate the engine, it rocks backward in the engine compartment sufficiently to effectively rotate the shift lever located on the vertical shift rod at the transmission and take it out of gear.
