Chrysler Repair: 2002 T&C 3.8 : no sttart, check fuse, soldering pencil

Question
QUESTION: I tried to start the van.Starter cranks great.Won't start, I have no instrument panel lights or power locks, but the radio & power windows work. Could this be a fuse?

ANSWER: Hi Tim,
Check fuse 14 in the power box under the hood which supplies power when the car is not activated by the ignition key. It is involved with the door locks and the body computer and the theft system. If that were blown, the computer might believe someone was trying to steal it and that would produce a no start. If you find it blown (or look also for a crack in the internal wire) then replace it. Then lock/unlock the front door using the key to clear the no start condition.
Other than that, you could try turning the ignition switch "on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the odometer window to see it the mileage reading is replaced by a 4-digit number preceded by a P. That would be a fault code that tells us why the engine won't start. Let me know and we'll go from there.

QUESTION: The fuse had continuity. Nothing comes through the odometer. I disconnected the instrument cluster. It starts & runs fine. I'll try to find a used ins. cluster. Thanks.

Answer
Hi Tim,
You might try tounching the solder connections of the cluster socket's pins where they meet the circuit board. Those have sometimes fatigued and reheating them with the tip of a soldering pencil may correct the cluster. If pin 9 solder joint were disconnected that might through off the digiital communication. Worth a try before buying a new one.
