Chrysler Repair: Chrysler Lebaron Engine: Stalling, chrysler lebaron, wd 40

Question
QUESTION: Hi My 1988 Lebaron is dieing on me while I am at a red light or when I let go of the gas pedal (like when I get on the freeway I will speed up but once I get up to speed and let go of the gas a little it sometimes dies.) When I pull up to a light and watch the Rpms they will be steady but then drop. Sometimes it goes back up but others times the car will die. It will die if I am in park, stopped at a light, in neutral, and every once in a while when I let go of the acceleration after speeding up. What would this be.

ANSWER: I would suggest two things, Matthew.
First check for fault codes using the ignition key:"on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the check engine light, which remains 'on', to see it begin to flash, pause, flash, etc. Count the number of flashes before each pause. Then repeat to assure an accurate flash count . Then tell me the counts in order of appearance.
The other thing is the egr valve. It may be stuck ajar. Spray some WD-40 on the valve stem where it enters the valv body and work it back and forth by means of a screwdriver  inserted in the slot of the valve stem. Let me know the engine/body style if you don't know where to look for the valve.

QUESTION: it flashed 5 then 5. It is a 2 door coupe convertible. and I think its a 2.2L turbo, 4 cylinders engine.

Answer
If it is a turbo, it doesn't have egr. If it is just a throttle body injected non-turbo then it does have egr.
The 55 code means there are no fault codes recognized by the engine controller. It simply mean 'end of readout'.
This being the case, my thought would be that you may have an intake manifold leak or tube connected to the manifold that has become disconnected. So you could try making very short squirts of starter fluid while the engine is idling all around the edge of the manifold to see the idle changes at any location. And use the under hood diagram to check all the hoses shown on that figure as a road map.
