Chrysler Repair: 95 Chrysler ConcordeL no start, cable clamps, far ends

Question
every time I turn the ignition to on the a/c comes on the clock restarts. Oh, did I mention it wont start? It started making a funny noise the day before and I put a quart of oil ,the noise stopped and I came home. The next morning I went out to start it and it cranked but wouldn't turn over.

Answer
Hi JC,
Do you have a conventional or automatic temp control type of A/C controller? What do you mean by "the a/c comes on": the blower?
The clock restarting sounds like the battery is being momentarily disconnected or perhaps the voltage is dropping so low that it is 'seen' by the clock the same as if you disconnected the battery.
Are the cable clamps on the battery tight? And are the wires on the minus post clamp attached firmly at their far ends?
You can get a hint of why it won't start by getting tha fault codes out of the powertrain computer memory. Use the ignition key:"on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time.
Then watch the check engine light which remains 'on' to see it begin to flash, pause, flash, etc. Count the number of flashes before each pause. Then repeat the process to be sure that you have a repeatable set of flash counts. Then tell me the counts in the order of appearanc and we'll go from there.
