Chrysler Repair: cooling fan not coming on: 01 PT Cruiser, continuity tester, ohmmeter

Question
On a 2001 pt cruiser the cooling fan will not come on and if the car sits running the temp goes up . The temperature sensor was replaced along with the thermostat what else could make it not work ?

Answer
Have you checked fuse 5 in the power box under the hood, and fuse 12 in the fuse box behind the dash? Those both have to work to get the fan to run. Look carefully to see they don't have a crack in the wire, or better yet test them with a continuity tester or ohmmeter.
If that isn't productive the use the ignition key to do a fault code readout: 'on-off-on-off-on and leave on' doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the odometer window to see the mileage reading replaced by a 4 digit number(s) preceeded by P. Let me know any numbers that come out and we'll go from there.
