Chrysler Repair: Air conditioner acting up, chrysler cirrus lxi, blower motor resistor

Question
I have a 99 Chrysler Cirrus Lxi and this week I started having problems with my Air. It works just fine on full blast but on the other 3 spots on the dial it doesn't work at all. So I can either have air full blast or completely off. I tried the heat and it does the same thing. Any Suggestions?

Answer
That is a symptom that the "blower motor resistor block" has gone bad. It is mounted in the internal air duct of the HVAX unit under the dash, on the right hand end. Find the blower motor at the underside of that right hand end and notice the twisted pair of wires coming out of the blower housing. Those wires go right to the resistor block Pull the plugs on the block, remove the 2 screws and pull the block out of the air duct.  Put in a replacement from a parts store, dealer counter, or even a used one from a wrecking yard.
It would be helpful to remove the underdash lower edge of the panel on the right side to give you more of a view of the unit. It is held on by a screw and clips.
