Chrysler Repair: 2000 Chysler Cirrus 2.4: timing belt alignment, belt alignment, vacuum leak

Question
Roland,
I tried to ask a follow up but was told there were to many sorry but still having issues with the rough idle. I did remove timing cover again and set marks again. My question is the marks on the exhaust gear appear to be cut under the cog rather than in center as with all others I have done. I did the 1/2 turn and they appear to line up . Also was able to get it to idle somewhat when we gave it a vacuum leak. we placed a gage on it and it was bouncing at idle but smooth out when accelerated. I have replace coil, EGR, Plugs to proper brand and heat range. The big question is the marks are they correct?
I am going to rate the previous question as soon as I am finished here .

Answer
Hi Bob,
The marks on both the exhaust and the intake sprockets are shown to be engraved centrally on one of the teeth of each sprocket. Once the belt is on and the tensioner pin removed, then rotate the crank two full turns and check that the slots are directly aligned with eachother when the crank sprocket mark aligns with the oil pump mark (the sprocket mark is on the trailing edge of a tooth).  If that is not what you have let me know and I will go through the steps that are listed to get them aligned that way.
Roland
PS Thanks for the nomination and kind remarks.
