Chrysler Repair: 00 Concorde 3.2L: ATC blend door/code 23, 2000 chrysler concorde, chrysler concorde

Question
QUESTION: I drive a 2000 chrysler concorde 3.2 and the air wont switch to the heat so im assuming its a blend door problem. But i wondering if it is a vacum line problem where could i loocate the vacum line that controlls the blend door does it come from the intake?

ANSWER: Hi Alex,
It is not vacuum operated, rather the blend door has an electrical actuator. The acutator is located on the bottom of the underdash unit, toward the front of it and directly above the center tunnel. You remove the under dash panel silencers on both sides and once you find it you will notice two screws that you take off which are accessible from the right side of the center stack, and one screw from the left side of the stack. Then pull down to remove the actuator noting the position of the connecter from the actuator to the blend door that is hidden inside. Try to position that connector when you put the new actuator back into the housing so that it meshes with the blend door.
If you want to check out the actuator function there is a self-diagnostic test you can run, but I need to know if this is a conventional or a digital control panel type of AC/heat control.

QUESTION: It is a digital control is it the hold down the mix floor and defrost? cause i can never get it to work i not sure which defrost the front or rear and which button is the mix and all the other driection thanks alex

ANSWER: Hi Alex,
To do the test, start the engine, set the reading to 75>sno F, and then press simultaneously and hold the lower 4th button, the upper 5th button and the upper 6th button. When the readout begins to blink, release the buttons and it will do the diagnostics and door calibrations (which may solve your problem). Then if any two digit numbers come up on the display let me know what they are. If there are more than one fault number you would find out what it is by pressing the 'panel' button which is the upper 4th button, and additional code(s) are obtained that way by continuing to push on that button. Finally it will revert to the normal readout. Let me know what you find out.

QUESTION: It came up with a code 23

Answer
Hi Alex,
That is 'blend door acuator feedback failure' which would explain your problem. If nothing changed, then presumably the feedback signal as to where the door is located is not working. Most likely it is internal to the blend door actuator itself. It has 5 wires, and the red/white wire is the feedback signal wire that goes to the pin 1 of black 24-wire plug of the body controller. You might want to verify the connection from the actuator plug to the body controller. And you could remove the actuator and examing what might be the basis for a signal (perhaps a variable resistor with a poor electrical connection between the 'wiper' and the coil which could be corrected via electronic circuit board cleaner being sprayed on it.
But if neither of those change the result of a subsequent scan or behavior, then a new acuator will probably fix your problem.
