Chrysler Repair: Engine dies when hot, recovers when cooled, dodge avenger, 1998 dodge avenger

Question
My 1998 dodge avenger 2.5 liter  engine   starts and runs well.   When it is very hot and I stop the engine,   it won't start again until about 10 minutes later.  The engine turns over but won't start.  Also if I am stuck in traffic the engine dies   and starts about 10 minutes later after it has cooled down.  Thank you

Answer
Hi Eric,
I wonder if one of the engine rotational sensors is breaking down when it gets hot? This is the sort of behavior these exhibit when they fail. Get a free fault code readout at an Autozone parts store where if you get an 0320 that means the crank sensor is failing, and an 0340 means the cam sensor but that one is inside the distributor and unfortunately is not replaced separately rather requiring a replacement distributor when it fails.
