Chrysler Repair: TRS Switch: Starter intermittent, drip pan, adjustment screw

Question
QUESTION: Hi Roland,
Remember me;
The grounding of pin 85 is what causes the intermittent cranking problem, when pin 85 floats no crank, no current flow across the coil until pin 85 goes low. There are connections between the relay pin 85 and the port on the PCM which you have previously referenced. The TRS looks like a 10 pin device buried in the trans and I assume the PCM processes those input to pull the port to grd when trans is in P or N. Are there separate outputs for for each trans position, ie PRNDL?  Getting to the wiring underneath the relay panel looks like the panel needs to be removed and there are a large number of wires coming into the PCM. Do all the outputs from the TRS go to the PCM?
Thanks again Roland!
John
I am going to drive for a day or so with pin 85 grounded to verify the intermittent no crank is gone.
New Post:
No crank is gone.
I checked pin 10 out of TRS and the signal is intermittent causing the no crank condition.
My question, is there linkage that actuates the TRS that can be adjusted or will I have to replace/repair the TRS?
Thanks.
John

ANSWER: Hi John,
The range switch is mechanically attached to the vertical switch rod which is operated by the shift lever cable. You might try adjusting the shift lever cable in case that it is not 'centered' on the P or N position of the shifter in the cabin. You might find a slightly reset cable will solve the problem as a different contact surface of the internal switch points might result. Other than that you will have to open the trans via the drip pan and remove the valve body to get to the trs for replacement or clean-up of the switch contacts as necessary.

QUESTION: Roland,
Where in the vehicle is the shift level cable adjustment?
John

Answer
Hi John,
It is at the transmission, attached to the lever arm of the vertical shift rod. Put the trans in P, then loosen the cable adjustment screw at the lever, pull the lever full forward to be sure you are in the park detent position, rock the vehicle to be sure you are in P, Tighten the cable adjust screw to 6 foot-pounds. Try the starter.
