Chrysler Repair: 1999 Sebring Limited Trip Computer, auto parts store, computer clerk

Question
Clerk at an auto parts store told me there is a bulb in the Sebring trip computer that could be the reason the display does not seem to function...but I can not find if this is true anywhere else on the web.

Answer
Hi John,
I am not personally familiar with the cluster on that vehicle. If you are speaking of the compass/mini-trip computer on the right hand side of the dash, the manual says that device is dependent on getting data from the body computer nearby. To test its function you can press the US/M and step buttons simultaneously, and then turn the ignition switch from the off to the run position. The various segments of the display will light up and after the test is completed it will display pass, fail, or ccd. Let me know what happens and we'll go from there. I don't believe there is a bulb, just the vacuum flourescent individual display elements. If any of the segments don't work then it has to be replaced in its entirety.
