Chrysler Repair: Sliding door closer motor/Latch assy, response warrants, postal mail

Question
2001 Caravan Sport.  Pass side sliding door will open and close on its own, but when closing, you can hear the motor at the rearward side of the door operating, but it does not pull the door in tight and latch it securely.  You can manually close the door and it latches just fine.  Not sure what part I am looking for.  I have some experience in replacing door latches and closing mechanisms, but cannot find any detailed info in my Over the counter tech manual.  Could you please direct me in what part I may be looking to replace in order to fix this problem?

Answer
Hi Don,
The '02 manual I have doesn't speak to this spicific problem but it does show the various parts of the power door mechanism. It might be the flex drive between the motor and the mechanism, or the mechanism might be loose such that the door doesn't drive sufficiently firmly to latch it closed. There are 21 pages in that section which I can xerox copy and postal mail to you. It would cost me about $2.70 to do that and you could send me back six 44-cent stamps after you get the pages. Let me know a postal mailing address if you would like these.

Please 'rate' my answer and where you see a question about 'volunteer of the month' consider a 'yes' answer if my response warrants it. Thanks
