Chrysler Repair: Dodge Caravan 2006 Overheating, 2006 dodge caravan, coolant level

Question
I have a 2006 dodge  caravan that overheats only if I'm in idling too long , or if I'm running the air conditioning. As long as I'm moving the van does not overheat.

I checked the radiator fans while parking, the fans turn on when I switch on the AC. The fans turn off when AC is turned off.

The coolant level was quite low in coolant container. I added the coolant to recommended level. I thought it will fix it but I am still having the same problem.

What could be the problem.

Answer
Hi Vikram,
Do the fans come 'on' when the temp gauge moves toward the "H" and you don't have the AC in play? What are the symptoms of 'overheats', other that the gauge reading, and what level does the gauge reach when you are idling? If the fans are working, then perhaps the air passageway through the radiator may be blocked with leaves/dirt so try shining a light through it from behind to see if you can check that by looking through the grille.
